Hey what about an earthquake? Ok here are some of my ideas. They dug up the treasure but have no use for it. How they find a way to distribute it and then open little shops and things. I dont know. They sound good to me.

My villagers and fish died and my plants are pollenated and my children are driving me nuts.
If they learn to cook then one of the events should be that a cooking fire burns out of control and one or more buildings get burnt down and have to be rebuilt, the crops and/or garden get burnt up and have to be regrown, that sort of thing. Perhaps even a jungle fire - which would also help reveal any people living in the jungle or evidence that people lived there long ago.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned as a suggestion for VV2, when you select the full screen option...let it show the entire accessable island. It goes it a bit nuts when trying to find that Master Healer and scrolling takes sooo long.
Thanks!

I like all these suggestions, and I really like the idea of pets. It would be great if the children could take their ponies for a ride, or walk their dogs, or even have their tame parrots sitting on their shoulder. It would be great fun if watching the villagers interact with their animals!

Also, It can be extremely frustrating when your little villagers wont do what you want them to. I have many villagers who constantly walk away from their job to do laundry or try to push the bolder. It would be nice if there was some way to punish the disobedient villagers, and praise the ones who do as their told!
Sometimes the villagers walk away because they've injured themselves; a walkabout or going and doing something else gives them a chance to regain health. And how many of us sit at our desks or wherever without going for a coffee break, recess, or chat on the phone??? And that's only on an 8-hour job/school - these villagers work all day and all night.

Hehe, I know, but I have this one villager, who no matter how long I give her to rest and relax, when I ask her to do any form of work, she will work for a few moments, then return to relaxing! I'd love to give her a bit of my mind!
