i was just wondering what island events every one has had just so see if it can give us a rough idea on what sort of things it gives us. i have had: the old drum, the half eaten crate, a broken compass, an old book/manuscript.
these were all on differant games, but the half eaten crate i have come across a few times when i have had to start over more than once

All the six year olds on my island had the measels once.
Oterwise, I have sen the above mentioned events many times.

I've had several water tight crates, parrots, heat waves, cold fronts, several of different vials of liquids, strangers showing up, whales, monkeys - and some of the ones you mentioned. I like how you never know which answer to choose - the same event can have several different outcomes.

I've had one where my villager found a moth in a cocoon(I killed it by accident), three times someone found a vial of liquid (once nothing happened, twice I poured it out instead), a heat wave where they wouldn't work, rats in a box, spiders in a box, twice I've had rusty tools in a box, I had a stranger in a boat come up asking for herbs and such (extra level of medicine, woo!), a dream about gold and a monster in a cave (I went for the gold and nothing happened), a villager found a book (took it to the researchers and it went missing), found a 'great berry masher' twice, had a monkey mess with the tech table and give me tech points... I think that's about it.

I've had one where a monkey was found trying to steal food. The villagers caught him and he had alot of bananas stashed away that they kept. It made the food quanity go up alot. But it made me sad because I have a monkey. He doesn't like it when someone takes his food.

I like the event where 1 person seems to be smart and it give you the choice to make them a farmer or a researcher...
and which ever one you pick maxes out the stat

Yep, the prodigy happened to me too With a 2 year old kid Too bad I need "12 years" to use her

Ive had the strange vial of liquid, had her drink it, and she got kinda weird and started dancing... rats in a box, the "child prodigy" where they max out either the farming/research stat, a dream where this woman "thinks she sees something shiny in the right cave, and she thinks she hears something roar in the left cave"
so i chose to enter the right cave, and the floor melted into water and she was eaten by crocodiles... then she developed a fear of the sea,
the compass, a strange berry (twice. the first time, the guy died after he ate it, the second time i didn't eat it), and.. this guy found a shiny black pearl, and i told him to share it with the village, but nothing happened. they all just got happy or somthing

I chose the other cave (where the animal growled) and had a dream about how to solve a puzzle.

The funniest one I have had was a crate full of diapers! What a great find!

I had a crate sealed and packed well, a baby was inside (Another time twins were inside)
