I'm confused about what SimCity is and if it is good or not. I'm technologically pre-historic, I know. Can anybody clarify for me?

Lots of great ideas....mine may be reiterating some already mentioned....

1) Weather: Something we can see. Something that causes us to vary how we are doing things (i.e., we can't fish during a hurricane).

2) Day/Night: Again, something we can see and which causes us to vary routine (no fishing at night, etc.).

3) Skills: More options. Also, need more building skill options (perhaps having huts fall into disrepair more often, or possibly damaged in storms).

4) Families: I'd like to have actual family units that stick together. Perhaps they get their own hut.

5) Adventures: Would be nice to have something like the ability to leave the island and have to accomplish further tasks before moving to the next island. The villagers could be on an exploration mission. So, while the regular village goes on as normal, we are now faced with following a few explorers and helping them.

6) Decisions: Need more of these. And perhaps more complex.

7) Food: Some sort of system where people have to buy food and store what they can. Then if their individual supply runs low they need to complete certain tasks to obtain more (some sort of barter maybe).

In short, you build a whole city from scratch, supervise it, while trying to make everybody happy.
One of the greatest (if not the best) sim game series out there. Well, in my opinion, anyway. =D

Oh! Thanks for the link. Very informative. Maybe if they had a tropical version (Sim Island) or renassaince or magical or something like that it'd be neat. Thanks again!

Here's my nickel's worth:
- Builders really don't have much to do once their tasks are complete. How about some of the "Events" damaging buildings so they have to repair or rebuild?
- Make the playing screen bigger by cutting down the left side.
- Once someone makes E-Elder or at least Master in two skills, they should be eligible to be a Full-time Teacher or just "Retired."
- Have the Adept+ Parents do something between babies, like child supervision, Food Prep or teaching. Something besides "Nursing Baby" and "Embracing."
- Give the Island a Goddess, like "Kubis," benevolent but moody Spirit of Nature. Or something like that.

Well i have some idea's...

Was thinking, 1 rank above a master, would be a specialist.
somone that has nothing else but, for examlple, farming, till the end of the bar (full blue). and once the bar is full they will
need to, i dont know prey in a place that was achived in a previous puzzle and be awarded the spcecialist rank that will
give them bonuses at what they do and give big ++ to thier kidsand offcourse at start they will be hard to make but a new "Tech"
somthing like "Progression" or "Evolution" (mine are bad, u pick some) will make it easiser to get "point" or ahead in a certain skill - not only if ur aiming for specialist. and if u are, by the time u have tech 3 if u start at at 14 u can have them be specialist by 45 (kinda likea PHD?)

Also ive been thinking, maybe putting some activies for ages 2 through 13, and again, the new tech (progression, or what not)
will effect them also, so by the time ur 14 u can even start as
and adept, or very clsoe to it (its pretty realistic, kids that
handle a proffession since childhood can be pretty good at it
even at early teens)

i just read what was said about me, about "Teachers" and i thought it might be cute if the "Specialists" would have the
option to teach, and u can choose who (for example, pull specialist to a podium or fire and then put certain kids on him
or on the chair to listen to his tales and expiriance.

maybe some adventures, taking a risk, could be rewarding or, well not rewarding and mess things up for you slightly.
kind of like a fishing trip, and it has a requirment, 1 master
and 2 adapt farmers, one adapt healer. for exmaple
the trip will be gone for a few hours (tricky since 2 hours are like a year but oh well) and u can get a msg saying "found a whale and got 10k food!" or "Only one made it back"
(and offcourse u prolly need to build the boat for the trip
and u cant always go... and so on.

If i have any more ideas offcourse i will post em here
2 questions
1. did u like it? or was it too complicated?
2. is anyone that can actually effect VV3 reading this?

I like many of the ideas that have been posted and am just re irritating but i think weather, times of day and night, sick villagers go to the hospital on their own, children learn to pick up valuable items on their own, the adventure idea is pretty cool to, and here's one from me villages can interact with eachother.example you have a friend who has a lot of food and you don't, send them a villager with a note saying" we need food" the villager will have what ever data with him so that your friend can send you what ever you asked for or can deny you the whatever and just go on living with his/her village.

It would be pretty interesting to have two villages interact in VV3 - trading, marriages, even disputes. Have one village develop and then a few intrepid explorers find another site and start another community. Perhaps the second group could be on another nearby island and require boats to get back and forth. That could be something else the builders could get into! Then the player could be working on maintaining one group and developing the other! Two games in one!
