Gatewood, I was previously experiencing this exact same error. At the suggestion of Arthur (and Barbara I think ), I completely uninstalled and re-installed VS and haven't experienced any issues since. It may be a corrupted file that is causing the issue. What I don't understand is why a fresh install seems to fix the problem and it doesn't come back (or at least haven't for me yet).
I've done that twice. It fixes it to uninstall and reinstall but as soon as you have to start a new game the next time, the crash happens again. I have installed the one that was in one of the threads called "VillageSimFixed" and am trying to see if that one does it as well.
