The link that you referred to (Belarc) was a reply to a person who was asking for help finding her computer's specifications. It has nothing to do with Virtual Villagers.

And, for others who are looking for the link to the Previews Page, it's here (and it's also accessible from our main page at www.ldw.com).

I, too, would like to be a beta tester. Is it still possible?

As I mentioned in my post (the one you replied to), anyone who is at least 18 years old and willing to sign and abide by a Non-Disclosure Agreement may apply to be a beta tester. We select testers from our tester database when we get ready to beta test a new game. Testers are chosen based on their qualifications and our requirements for a particular test.

About how many testers do you accept and what standards must they meet, if any? Even if you could give me a general idea that would be great

The number of testers selected for a particular beta test varies, and the qualifications are listed on the application page. Our beta test program is not like those at places like RealArcade, Big Fish Games, and Pogo where they are evaluating finished games. We are actually testing and debugging the games. We are looking for people who have the time and willingness to really work at testing game function and playability, and who can communicate well with the development team, because that's critical in the beta test process. Some of our best beta testers have little technical ability, but they're good communicators who are observant and dedicated.

To be honest, we have far more people wanting to be testers than we can possibly choose, but we try to bring new testers into the program with each new beta test.

All those in favor of locking the developers in a cave & blocking it with a boulder so they cannot do anything but work on finishing the next game, say aye. (We can send one of them out from time to time to pick berries. And hopefully they can control themselves enough to not "hook up" every 10 minutes so when we let them out of the cave there are not an additional 10 people.)

We never said that the GC would "disappear," so there's really nothing to explain. Arthur did say that the sequel will begin where Virtual Villagers leaves off and a careful examination of the sketches at the beginning of this thread provides some clues about what's coming.
