I live in Winchester, an ancient (pre-Roman) town in Hampshire which is a county in southern England (yes, for those of you who are old enough to remember it has that Winchester Cathedral from the old 60s song!). It's 62 miles from London.

Winchester used to be the capital of England until William of Normandy came over from France in 1066, defeated King Harold at the Battle of Hastings (about 40 miles eastwards along the coast) and decided to make London his HQ - probably because the English Channel is only 21 miles across from Dover to Calais and London is nearer to Dover than Winchester is (Dover is at the narrowest point of the English Channel on the map in the first link in my next paragraph).

For more information about Winchester, see here. I actually live in a flat (apartment) which overlooks the hill that the top photo on this site was taken from and I can walk along the footpath beside the river shown in the bottom picture for several miles.

I'm from Nothern Michigan, right on the bay of Lake Michigan. Smack dab in the middle of a bunch of tourist cities, I'm living in the Cherry Capitol of the world.

Shalom; Everyone calls me Laini-nickname from my mum. I am a proud army captian's wife and we live in Norfolk, Va. No children--yet ;\) Still newly-weds. My husband is a science teacher and serves once a month as a Army Reserveist. Between active duty and the Reserves, he has been in the militray 15 years. Me? I am a Tapestry Maker by trade and the Keeper of the Home. I love VV; hubby likes to hear what the "little people" are up to. One of my biggest challenges (besides getting rid of the GC) is keeping my villiagers from eating those crabs! Kosher you know ;\)

Hi Cass.
As I noted in another post, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only "old person" on the block. When I gravitated to this website, I thought I'd be the only one over 16! I am a mother of two daughters, one teen and one wannabe. I'm married and starting my new at-home business which I'm excited about. I am also a closet game-player. The Playstation 2 gets more attention from me than from the kids! Can you guess my favorite type of games? Think SIMS!
