Elderly children and ugly villagers need love too maybe more so.
Actually, I like the not so perfect looking villagers. Makes them stand out, and when a character stands out more, I tend to pay attention to them more, and thus they usually become masters faster.

Certain names also make a villager stand out...I just named a wild looking lady villager Trollope:)
