i was just wondering what island events every one has had just so see if it can give us a rough idea on what sort of things it gives us. i have had: the old drum, the half eaten crate, a broken compass, an old book/manuscript.
these were all on differant games, but the half eaten crate i have come across a few times when i have had to start over more than once

All the six year olds on my island had the measels once.
Oterwise, I have sen the above mentioned events many times.

I've had several water tight crates, parrots, heat waves, cold fronts, several of different vials of liquids, strangers showing up, whales, monkeys - and some of the ones you mentioned. I like how you never know which answer to choose - the same event can have several different outcomes.

I've had one where my villager found a moth in a cocoon(I killed it by accident), three times someone found a vial of liquid (once nothing happened, twice I poured it out instead), a heat wave where they wouldn't work, rats in a box, spiders in a box, twice I've had rusty tools in a box, I had a stranger in a boat come up asking for herbs and such (extra level of medicine, woo!), a dream about gold and a monster in a cave (I went for the gold and nothing happened), a villager found a book (took it to the researchers and it went missing), found a 'great berry masher' twice, had a monkey mess with the tech table and give me tech points... I think that's about it.

I've had one where a monkey was found trying to steal food. The villagers caught him and he had alot of bananas stashed away that they kept. It made the food quanity go up alot. But it made me sad because I have a monkey. He doesn't like it when someone takes his food.

I like the event where 1 person seems to be smart and it give you the choice to make them a farmer or a researcher...
and which ever one you pick maxes out the stat

Yep, the prodigy happened to me too With a 2 year old kid Too bad I need "12 years" to use her

Ive had the strange vial of liquid, had her drink it, and she got kinda weird and started dancing... rats in a box, the "child prodigy" where they max out either the farming/research stat, a dream where this woman "thinks she sees something shiny in the right cave, and she thinks she hears something roar in the left cave"
so i chose to enter the right cave, and the floor melted into water and she was eaten by crocodiles... then she developed a fear of the sea,
the compass, a strange berry (twice. the first time, the guy died after he ate it, the second time i didn't eat it), and.. this guy found a shiny black pearl, and i told him to share it with the village, but nothing happened. they all just got happy or somthing

I chose the other cave (where the animal growled) and had a dream about how to solve a puzzle.

The funniest one I have had was a crate full of diapers! What a great find!

I had a crate sealed and packed well, a baby was inside (Another time twins were inside)

I guess this doesnt actually qualify as an event, but I had a rotten stinkin little monkey come & steal about 15000 tech points from me once. If I ever get my hands on him....

One of mine found a book "island of the black pearl" (or something like that) read it, was astonished and ran off into the woods never to be heard from again.

Speaking of black perals...
One of my villagers found a black pearl on the beach, and instead of keeping it for herself, I decided to make her share with the other villagers. They rejoiced and started celebrating, but nothing happened. I still wonder what would have happened if she kept the pearl...

Where does the crate come from? I reached my population max without the child prodigy.....dang now what?

I nearly always get babies in a crate. I once got a crate and thought, "Meh, dont really need anymore mouths to feed" but I opened it cause I couldnt leave a baby in a crate, and it turned out to be spiders that made me sick!

I have thrown all crates back in after getting rats in the first one. I had a red vial, and the broken compass. The worst was locust that ate my crops. That is between three running games so I guess I got off easy.

the well-kept crate seems ok... but the rotten one! you definintely take your chances on that one :P

The only event I got was a dream.....should have took the one that sounded bad....took good cave in dream and fell into water with sharks...now my villager wont go back in the water.

Crate full of bananas = 1000 food
Vial of blue liquid = turned back into child
Child prodigy
Wind = revitalized crops and berries
Parrots = ate all the berries
Heat = fuzzy food
Face in the trees = (when inspected) villager never returned

Wow! I have alot to look forward to! I have had some of the above mentioned, but not the dream! I got the diapers in the crate and two crates with children. One joined the tribe, but the other child just was never seen or heard from after I opened the crate. Wonder where it went? Never had a stranger in a boat yet, either! Or a book!

Is there a way to increase the odds of getting an event? I have been playing for 24 real hours, and I have only had one thing happen, and that was my top researcher drank some blue stuff and danced....0_o

Twice I have had triplets in a barrel. Also a lot of the ones people have already mentioned.

i have been playing for over 60 hours....and only saw 3 events can any one tell me if im doing something wrong or how to get island events pop up more frequetly

I had a typhoon hit the island in the middle of the night, and it washed away all their food reserves! (grrr!)

I also had that stinking face in the trees, and I chose to check it out, and my Female Healer was never seen again...
Of course she was the only one trained for healing, so naturally one of my guys got sick!LOL
Luckily, they can heal with minimal training so I was able to save the "sickie".

One of my guys read a book and disappeared up the mountain never to be seen again.

One of my females drank a potion and reverted to 12 years old lol.

I have a child prodigy (apprentice scientist) who died... boo hoo... of starvation! 560 mins to new crops!?

i had this one went to the roar and saw a vision of the island with the temple

I drank the vial and my guy's hair fell out, he had a full head of hair, then a horseshoe haircut, and he started running everywhere...weird.

ive had a few not mentioned.... one where bees buzz the berry bush and it jumps to about 3000 berries... one event about finding a mushroom... i had the villager eat it... villager automaticlly became an adept healer and 500 food was added....also had crates with coconuts - 500 food

I just had one about a Berry Bush, whether to eat the berries or not, I figgered what the heck lets eat!!! (was low on food was kinda hoping this was one of those "new food source" ones), turned out my Builder died cuz what he thought was berries was actually the egg sacs of a poisonous snail.

Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Gotta train a new builder now.*sniff*

I started a new village for my friend and an event came up, it said, "(name) looks in the forest and sees a scary face, should he run away or go and investagate". i picked investagate and he was never seen agen!

In the palm version sometimes that happen, but you also had a possability of something else happening. I have had this same event countless times in VV, but it always ended with losing a villager. I would like the other ending to this even in VV. Please Arthur.

Man you all are lucky!!! I've only had 2 events so far - the Helpful Honeybees replenished my berry bush and 1 of my villagers drank a vial of fizzy red liquid that made her stupid.

on my sis-in-laws board we chose the gold & that vv became afraid of water. the animal noises on mine he sees where to find the gold/jewls & temple than wakes up.so choose well.

actually they weren't twins Noelle - they were part of a set of quints - the other three washed up on my island - and cathyj got the diapers! clearly somebody needs to learn how to build bigger crates....lmao

in one game I had the whale - haven't seen monkeys yet - face in the bushes - parrots, locusts, strange berries, mold (just threw out the worst and ate the rest - couldn't afford to throw it all away :S) no caves yet - and why is it that I only get huge amounts of bonus tech points in my game that's already solved all 16 puzzles and has over 3 million in food storage and nearly 300,000 tech points ~sigh~

I have been playing my first game for about 212 hrs and I have had only two, the box of spiders and the blue vial that gave me a master Dr. I would like to have more but oh well lol

Not a bug GG, I've gone days with an event. I wish they would increase the rate in which they happen.

I agree.... maybe the powers that be could write a wee patch?? one that increases the rate of events???? im thinking of running a game until i get each of the events... i'll let you know how it turns out in 10 years or so lol

It took me awhile to get it for you! I think I've lost almost a dozen villagers trying to get the "good" outcome!

In addition to all of the above mentioned, I just started my 6th game and had a new one, a day of celebration with my initial first 7 villagers. They didn't do much, just danced and celebrated but it was something I hadn't seen before.

I just got the book of the story of the black perls or something and I click for her to read it...eventhough I already read here that she was going to disappeared!! sniff sniff and she did!
Don´t read the book!! she was only 9 and so cute! one of my first set of twins...so sad!

BEWARE:OF THE BEAUTIFUL BERRY event.my sister-in-law had her GC eat it .her population went from 64-90.one of the women in her village was nursing @ the time,she has been nursing for 4 yr now, she still has 54 min & the game is on 2X speed.how would you like a 4+ yr nursing time.i feel sorry for her.

My golden child found the beautiful berry bush & I let him eat it & he died. Has anyone else heard of the golden child being able to die I thought they were immortal.

I havent had but 7 events. I had the honey bees(they are just so darn nice.) but then I had the locust. The good thing about when the locust hit my crops still hadnt come up yet so they didnt get anything. hehe.

I had a vegtable crate wash up on shore I had my villager open the crate and spiders jumped on her, they hurt her so bad she died.

i feel bad about helping hte moth

I just loved the barrel of giggleing babies, they were the females I really needed. I only had one left at the time.

I hadn't had any of the disastrous events until recently. Now first you have to look at these stats (pic attached). The birth of my first set of triplets put my ranking to 666 - the "number of the beast" - a couple hours later the typhoon hit and wiped out ALL that food! I was really worried cuz I had 89 villagers and I was afraid they'd start starving, but it seems the crops are more bountiful when you have more mouths to feed cuz inside of an hour my food was back up to nearly 4,000.

One of my village just had a massive heatwave, so my villagers complained it was too hot to work so they ALL went to the BEACH!!!!!

OMG that was too funny!!! That particular village has 76 people and it was amusing watching them all sit on the beach or swim - no one was working LOL

When one of my villager found a black pearl I choose him to kept it to himself it made him dislike crowd and DISLIKE work

I Have Had A Few I've Had Rats In A Crate, Stakes In A Crate, Fruit In A Crate, Vial Of Bad Water, And All My Kids Getting Ill!!

When my villagers had the heat wave this time I decided to help them cool off. There are 29 kids who can't go in the water, the GC is standing on the water, and there are 60 adults squished into the lagoon.
I do like to let you add your own captions, but I'm imagining the G.C. saying to the rest of the kids "I'm telling you, we should grab their clothes and run like heck!".

If the person keeps the pearl, s/he just keeps to him- herself and don't want to do anything. You gotta MAKE 'em do it.

I've had the black pearl 2x (once kept, the other shared), the dream with the cave (chose the gold, now afraid of water), the moth (didn't help it), and can't remember any others I've had. Hope to get LOTS of food and experience soon.

I just got the north wind that revitalized my berry bush. Had 231 or so on it, now got 900+ on it.

I know it's not really an Island Event, but whenever m veggies dip below 300 or so, it jumps up to 800! Has this ever happenned to anyone else before?

Crops are on a cycle - if you dont pick them all before the cycle ends - the new crops come up anyhow - you basically "Lose" the 300 yer villagers didnt harvest the "year" before

this may be crazy and i played with my time clock and it went on like 30 hour by accident and i checked the crops and there was like 2671389 crops!

I drank a vial of red liquid and everyone else got sick, One villager found a book from the former villagers on the Island found a hidden path and dissappeared.

Ok, I know I saw a much more complete listing of the events somewhere in these forums a few days ago, but for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out where it went. Did anything get archived recently and is unavailble for search?

In several posts, one person went through what all the events were and the possible outcomes (some had up to 4 outcomes listed)... I would like to use the events, but I know I never will if I don't have any idea what the outcomes might be.

Don't know that will help most of the time since a lot of the events have varied outcomes, so you take your chances anyway on whether you'll get the good or bad

Nothing has been archived, and (if I'm thinking of the same list that you are) it was the events in Village Sim, not the ones in Virtual Villagers. They're different!

One crate o' baby, one that gave 2nd spirituality without having to spend the points, one with a whale that gave 1200 food. Let's see... oh, yeah, a drum that had papers in it that gave full master healer. A couple of vials that have had good effects.

I haven't had anything negative in the three villages I have going. The only ones I said no to were the eyes staring out of the forest. That one sounded like bad news, but for all I know it could have given a zillion tech points.

It's where it is for a reason. It's a list for the Palm version of the game (Village Sim) and the Island Events have changed significantly for Virtual Villagers.

a new one I just had was a "troubled child" he wasn't interested in normal children activities so the game let me choose to have him try research or farming, I picked research and he is now an "aprentice" has full research at 11 years old.

Argh! Well, thanks anyway ladycfii. It's not that it would "help" me, I would just like to know what could happen. I know it's not a guarantee to what will happen and I would take my chances with the event anyway, it just makes me feel better about taking one at all if I know what the possible outcomes are. I would be perfectly willing to make a list, if people will send me the exact outcomes they are receiving from the island events. I've only gotten 2 and I've been playing for almost 120 hours now & I didn't take either one. *sigh*

I just had one that gave one village an extra 1000 tech points. Since they are working on the level 3s, it was most welcome.

I'm really scared to grow my villages beyond 12-13 peeps until I have enough tech points in Science and Medicine. I hate having anyone on maternity leave. Then again, I guess I should let one of those poor women sit down now and then.

Random? I've been playing in hard mode and have had about 4 or 5 events so far: every one has been the rotten crate which I've refused to open each time. For random events this one is sure persistent in turning up!!!

The creepiest one I've had made one of my 4 year olds an expert in mating. I don't even want to think about how that could happen.

In the dream where you have to choose which cave to enter...when you choose the one that doesnt have a bad outcome, does anything at all change or happen?? I've been trying to figure this out for eons.

If you choose the right cave in the dream, you will get a clue to where the treasure is buried.

I wish that there were more events. I've only had 4 in the 330+ hours the game has been going. (Though a lot of the time it was paused because of work and sleep.)

i have only had two village events, someone found a book and they became a master doctor, and one kid found a vile of red liquid, and i made her drink it and it changed her hair color... will i have more events??? i have completed puzzles 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9... and i'm afraid to let my game run around the clock, so i pause it when i'm not at my comptuer, i have been playing it about 1 hour every day for about 10 days???

I've had triplets in a crate. Tools that were tainted so people got sick. Kids all got measles. Crate of food, and a couple of others I can't remember

rapture, events are at random and you will keep getting them. If you have plenty of food, you should be able to leave your game running when you are not at your computer with no problem. Makes it more interesting to see what they have accomplished in your absence.

Rapture, for the amount of time you've been playing that's about how many events you should have seen.

I've had parrots eat all the berries.

We get something that makes all the food moldy on a regular basis.

We had the face in the trees with the villager never to be seen from again.

I did have monkeys give us tech points.

We've found a black pearl twice, shared it, and all they did was dance.

One guy found a book, put it on the research table, and it disappeared.

I had another little girl find a book, so I made her read it and she became a doctor at 4. So, in a few more years that might be of use. LOL>

I just had the tightly wrapped crate, had a set of twins inside.

If you go backwards, you have a pretty good chance of hosing your game, not to mention the other potentially serious side-effects of adjusting your system clock all the time.

I have three games running right now. So far the events I've seen are (off the top of my head):
-Guy got a vial of blue liquid, drank it and became a Master Doctor
-Kid found a book, put it on the research table, and it disappeared
-Someone found a trunk with two little boys in it
-Someone found a trunk with rats in it that bit them and made them sick (they were able to be healed)
-Someone found a trunk with spiders in it that bit them and made them sick (they were also able to be healed)
-The dream in the cave - I took the path toward the growling and nothing really happened.
-A whale washed up on a sandbar and it was still alive - I chose to keep it alive until the tide came in and my village went from Level 1 to Level 2 of Spirtuality (that was a good one)

Those are the only ones I can remember. I wanna see some monkeys!!

i had a terrible event in one of my games. a typhoon washed away all the food!! i had more than a million food units. it was very uncool

Oh I had the typhoon as well... I was probably up to about 3k units, though, which was replenished pretty quickly with three people fishing, including two Master Farmers.

I had the monkeys (didn't see them). They knocked stuff off the table but it made it so there were a big discovery, and I ended up with a bunch of tech points.

I've had multiple bottles of liquid, a plague of parrots (I'm still cussing about those darn parrots), a hot wind that ruined my berries/crops and food supply and a compass was found.

I have had a crate of rats, a beached whale, a monkey they found had stolen food and when they retrieved it they also got 3,000 bananas, several of my villagers say that they see something strange but nothing seems to come from it. I also had the writings that then get stolen off of the research table.

I've had the beached whale a couple of times and each time I did the 'right thing', I helped it get free. So, this last time I wanted to see what would happen if I chose to harvest it for food. I waited to be struck by a plague or somethin, but instead I got the food that was badly needed.

Drink the red liquid and doesn't feel quite themself... changed who the villager was. He was the reddish brown haired guy who became the half balding brown haired guy. I want the other guy back he was cuter :P

Before buying the game I downloaded quite a few trials. I've had the book, which I ignored, and the vials of liquid which I ignored, and a crate containing rusty tools. Some of my villagers got sick, but they were healed.

When I bought the full version I decided to be a bit more adventurous, so I drank the liquid, and the villager got turned into a child!
I've also had a monkey mess up the table, but it was to my advantage.

My nephew has a game running of his own since yesterday, and so far he's had the book, which he read, and then wandered off and never returned, and one of his children has turned out to be a prodigy.

Those wretched monkeys STOLE 4000 points from my village and then later again STOLE 4300 points - when I was trying to do all the puzzles without fishing, so had to get fishing in order to survive!!!

I'm running 5 games simultaneously, so I tend to see at least 2-3 events a day. So far I"ve seen:
--The rusty compass
--Monkeys ransacking the table, and either addin tech points or taking them away
--Food wiped out by mold, typhoons, and birds. A bunch of villagers starved, including one 5-year-old. That one made me sad....
--Berry bush pollinated by bees
--Crate with twins
--Crate with spider (folks got sick)
--Crate with rusty tools (I think folks got sick while getting tech points)
--Troubled kid who became a Master researcher
--The beached whale. A couple times the villages saved it, and other times when food was low they ate it. Dependng on what happens, you get villagers who either really like fishing and eating whale meat, or really hate them....
--Various liquids that either added skills or changed villager's looks

No one ever answered my question about how many events there are total. I saw a lot of postings about what events players have had, but that's it. Anyone have a number? Curious to know when I've had em all.

I have one that I didn't see listed yet.... I have a big wave come and put debris all over my beach AGAIN! UGH...

I really, really wish we had more events. I get bored just waiting on nothing but tech points to gain the next level. There's food, huts, and basically, just waiting and waiting on tech points with NOTHING happening for HOURS.

I really enjoy the events as well. I would like them to be more frequent too. I suppose that is what keeps us locked to the game, waiting on those events.

Maybe that should be our next poll. Who wants more events?

In addition to the Isola Day of Celebration, I've also had the villagers celebrate a "Blessings Day", during which they do the same dancing party as usual.

I've had most of the ones above as well, and I'm waiting for the day I find all of my wayward villagers who wandered off after reading that controversial "Island of the Black Pearl" book...

a stranger who came in a boat to take 'samples' of the plants, and i let him and he gave us antibiotics - yay my medicine level went up for free!

3 Vicous green fluid events, 1 drank, changed her face & hair, the other two were poured out.

1 Berry smasher, taken to the researchers for tech points....hmmm I think that's it so far.

I definately would like more events. I have had a monkey stealing food and let it run off and ended up getting an adept healer. I also got the one where the monkeys are on the research table and I got good tech points. I have a 6 year old master scientist, and when I got the dream one I figured the good one sounded like a trap so I found out about the treasure on the side of the temple (but I don't have the temple yet boo-hoo.)

i had a vile once and the kid was 13 and guess what? it made all skills go up to half the bar (WOO!)

I had one where 8 of the men left in a raft to check out the other side of the island.

has anyone else had the one with the mirror If they look into the mirror they change bodies with someone else.

All you have to do is use the forum Search function and search for "compass" to find the answer. Make sure you change the search date range to 1 year.

i had my food get moldy and i took out the mold and like 12 villagers got sick (including children!) i also had the mystery man, viles of liquid, typhood, box of dipars and the moth.

I've had a crate wash up with rusty tools but some villagers got sick & I gained 1000 tech pts....no biggie w/sickness either just used a healer.

Also had some type of celebration where all the villagers started celebrating & had big feast at the end....so far that's it.

Broken compass That one event I never had so what does that do.

I'll show you an easy way to find things like that in the forums:

Click the Advanced button over on the left, under the Search box. Type compass in the Keyword box at the top and change the Date range to 2 years. Click on All forums in the Forum(s) to search box and click Submit. You'll see a list of posts containing the word compass including one that has the choices and outcomes for that exact event!

I have had all the Island events I looked at in my search, except The visiter, I wonder why I have never had that event?

Next time I get the drum event let the villager play it and get the rainfall instead of a master doctor for once.

I don't know if it's normal but I had the event when they ask you
if your villager drink or not a vial of a redish oily liquid or
something like that. If I answer yes my villager die. I got that
one at least 4 times.

I took a risk to day with the beauteful berries event and it paid off this is the result she's a master parent too.

white pearl (just got that one and it was a nine year old kid who found it, I said keep it, and all of his skills were increased, and he's able to heal people, he's now an apprentice doctor at the age of 9.

How about having the events come a little more often, say once every three hours instead of every fifteen hours after the first two events.

i've had a child dream about the adults and how they left to hide something, i found a compass and kept it, someone found a vial of liquid and drank it ...his hair and eys changed color, many parrots and baby in the crate...someone saw eyes watching them...they investigated and got kidnapped.and so far that's about it.

This is what happens the effect of eating strange berries event, she will keep nursing baby until the age she ate the berries

Wow. The latest post on this topic was almost 9 years ago. I feel a little weird posting this, but here it goes:
I started a new game of VV1 (or Virtual Villagers: Origins, in my case) on my iPad, and the first event I got on that game was one where one of the villagers found a liquid. I don't remember which one, though. I chose for him to drink it, and this is what it said:

At first, I couldn't remember what it meant. I read it about three times, but I was still confused. Then, I looked at his picture and thought "Why does Michael look to small? He looks like a child. Then, I realized that I feel so stupid.
