Why does it say in the app that VV2 is free for iPad ,then when you get it ,it says to buy full version ,so to my mind that is definitely not free.plus it needs to be updated as it won't play on future upgrades of iOS

There are two iPad versions and two iPhone versions (free and full) of each of our earlier Virtual Villagers games (VV2 through VV5). The only difference between the free and full versions is that the free version is played with a much smaller tribe than the full version. You can play the entire game in both versions. We provide a link to the full version as a convenience for those who enjoy our games enough to support us and buy them, but it's not required to play the game.

We are working on updating our older games to be compatible with future versions of iOS.

Thank you very much for your explanation I understand now and I will buy the full version in the future as until they have been updated it's not worth it because iPad is updating all the time so I might just have bought it then they will update the iOS and I won't be able to run the game,,l do so hope you understand,as I really love all your games I have them all on pc ,and I am hoping to get them all for my iPad,you do a fantastic job,I wish I had just a bit of your talents,keep up the good work.
