Don't have facebook and was able to save my game and see my mayor retire and his child take over as mayor

It's true that you don't need Facebook to save your game progress in Virtual Town. The game saves to your device approximately every 10 seconds, so that you will be able to continue your game where you left off every time you play it.

The Facebook connection is only required if you want to restore a backup of your game from our server if Virtual Town is ever deleted from your device. Since deleting an app on a mobile device also deletes all of the app's data, a Facebook connection is the only way to get your game data back onto your device after it's deleted.

A Facebook connection will also allow you to play the same town on different devices, as long as those devices downloaded the game from the same app store.

It used to be that you could save to Facebook. No longer. I've lost a lot of my money because it did not back up my game. Backing up to Facebook doesn't work. My phone crashed a couple of times and I lost everything.
