bethlham, they can play train together, but you have to drop them on one another to initate it. I loved the tag game they played in VV2...Wish they'd brought it back with this game. Oh! Yea...I have avoided putting them on each other...but it's great you can start them playing. Since I recently restarted...again...I am low on kiddies but I will surely try this when I get more. And, maybe they could add that in VF2...have an event where neighbor kids come, drop wrappers everywhere, make smudges and eat alot of food...but have a little party in the meantime! That's probably too close to my reality though

Maybe some random events where characters would leave the house for a while and you wouldn't be able to use them.
Balance the distribution of collectibles. I like the money and all but constantly seeing coins gets a little annoying.
I really hate it when a child is carrying a collectible and drops it when some event happens that causes celebration or parents call them to dinner or brush their teeth.
Agree with others about more interaction between the characters. I don't like that you have to force them to watch tv together or 'tickle' or train or party. Heck, they could all even play a board game together instead of one person always playing by themself.
More weather then just rain. And speaking of weather, have it rain less often. Every couple hours gets a little tiresome.
Have the option of sending the kid off to college or letting him stay at home. Maybe the tradeoff could be, if you choose to let them stay at home, their starting salary will be lower or will have a harder time progressing in their career.
Goals that can only be attained AFTER you buy certain upgrades. (ie making a pizza but that can only happen with a level 3 kitchen).

As other people have mentioned, I wish you did not have to wait for a parent to die to let ONE child take over the house. I wish they could all continue to co-exist until they die, or maybe the siblings could get marriage proposals and then move out. Another thing is the babies. I'll admit it's amusing that the mother carries around the baby all the time, even to bed. And it's quite admirable she can fix a leaky sink while holding triplets. But she needs to put the baby down BEFORE going in the pool. I saw mine submerge her baby underwater while she was just floating around.

Improvements and Suggestions for Virtual Families 2?

I think they should come out with a VF 2. This game has so much potential to be a great game. They should have more home improvements for every room in the house. They should include over 40-100 different types of home improvements. The Family store should be bigger and include more choices and upgrades. Every room should be able to be upgraded not only the office, kitchen and workshop. There should be 5 upgraded levels for each room in the house not three.
Players should be able to customize their houses so no two house look alike. There should be a variety of furniture, kitchen products, bedroom sheets and linen, bathroom tubs, showers and sinks in the store for players to buy.
There should be a build component in the game for the family to extend and add on new rooms to the house to make it bigger. Or they can give the option for the family to move to a bigger home. The family should have a choice whether they want to live in a mobile home, townhouse, chateau, country house, Victorian cottage, penthouse or mansion.
They should be able to customize the homes they buy as they progress in their careers. There should also be a clothing store, and clothes should be cheaper so you can change your family outfits more regularly.
The family should also be able to plant gardens and grow fruits. The parents should be able to study, attend classes, change careers. There should be more interaction between the family pets and the family.
Kids should be able to be prodigies in certain careers before they attend college.
If you have more suggestions and improvements for the game please post.

All of that sounds fabulous but also is reminiscent of the Sims game!

Several of your suggestions have been brought up in another post for VF2. there is an event where you can choose to change jobs, however, you will go back to level 1

I do believe there will be program upgrades in any future versions of this game, just as there were in Virtual Villagers over the course of the three versions. However, this is a great game design as an introductory version of Virtual Families. I am enjoying it immensely--I now have 10 families going at different stages of age and development. In some I am concentrating on having a big family, some on career development, some on acquiring all the upgrades, etc. It can be as versatile as you choose to make it. I think the game developers did an awesome job creating this game and, as I said, I expect them to broaden our little folks' horizons in future versions. But this can suffice for a start.
