Hello, everyone! I wanted to update you on the status of the fan fiction review and let you know about some new procedures that we hope will keep the contents of the Fan Fiction forum fresh and interesting.

Fan Fiction Review Update:

We expect the review of "current stories" (stories that have been updated by the author since June 1st) to be completed by the end of the month). There are still over 10,000 posts waiting for review, and we will work steadily to get through them. Any unfinished stories that have not been updated since June 1st will not be reviewed or moved out of the archive. After 9/1/08 we will begin removing unfinished and unsuitable (not E-rated) stories from the fan fiction archives.

If you are the author of a story and don't have a copy of it on your computer, you may request that the story thread (including comments) be sent to you. To obtain a story or stories that you have written, please send a PM to me or Rockmower, before September 1st, with the following information:

• The title(s) of the fiction that you need to have sent to you
• Your email address (the story will be sent to you as an email attachment, which is not possible in a PM).

New Fan Fiction Forum procedures:

To help keep the focus on new stories, and to keep the Fan Fiction forum from growing too large, we will be adopting new procedures beginning September 1, 2008. These procedures are outlined below, and it's important that everyone with an interest in fan fiction be familiar with the changes:

• The Fan Fiction forum will be used as a place for sharing stories that authors are working on, so that they can obtain feedback from readers and work on improving their writing skills. It takes too much server space to keep every story that is contributed, so we will be pruning the contents of Fan Fiction regularly. Authors and readers should make sure that you save copies of stories that interest you, so that you will have them safely stored on your computer.
• Authors may have no more than 3 incomplete stories at a time. If you want to create new stories when you already have 3 of them in progress, either finish the ones you're working on or request that they be deleted.
• We will be creating a Best of Fan Fiction sub-forum where we will place completed stories that merit a permanent place in LDW Fan Fiction. This forum will not be pruned.
• Any stories that have remained unfinished for a month will be pruned, along with the companion comments thread.
