There is not another version yet, but these clues might give us the info we need to fix the game for you.

Are you playing in fullscreen or windowed? You might try, before you enter your tribe's name, switching to the other mode (windowed or fullscreen...whichever you are NOT currently using).

Ok. I'll PM you when we have another idea or another build to try. We're checking it out, I assume you.

I am having a problem similiar to this only with a couple different numbers and letters thrown into my error code. And I don't even get to name my tribe name. My screen just goes black like it wants to load the game and then it just gives me an error. Sometimes if I'm lucky I get to hear the opening bar of the music, but that's as far as I get although I have somehow managed to use up nearly all of my free trial without ever getting to play. I've done all the things mentioned here as well as those in a different post that was dealing with fish or plant tycoon. I can't imagine why my pc wouldn't be compatible with the game as I've played both vv1 and 2 on it. The only difference is that hubby has installed vista and for the last two games we had xp. Same pc just different operating systems. Does anyone know why?

It would be very helpful if you could provide the error code. It's very difficult to determine what happened without that information. Vista is a very different operating system from Windows XP, and sometimes you need to change some settings.

Ya. That sounds like a different crash.

OK, first I get "Could not open display. Error code=0xc8660160". Then I click OK on that one and get "Error: Access violation at 0x004A8930 (tried to read from 0x00000004) program terminated". When I click OK on that one I hear the music for a second and then nothing. And windows searching the internet for a solution never turns up anything.

I'm not particularly computer savvy, but I've changed all the settings I can find with no luck. And my husband, who is good with a computer, did stuff for about 2 hours last night and couldn't make it work either. (Although he could have realized that fixing it would mean the kids and I would be ignoring him for the next few weeks caring for our villages and just PRETENDED to try to fix it. \:\) )

Anyway, thanks for any help you can give.
