Ok. We are looking into this. In the mean time I would suggest you uninstall the game....manually delete these folders if they do not uninstall:
Program Files/Virtual Villagers - The Secret City
My Documents/LDW/Virtual Villagers - The Secret City

Delete the installer (VV3Setup) and redownload it.

Then reinstall and try again. Are you on XP or Vista, or Mac?

Try the reinstall, maybe throw in a reboot of your machine. Let me know of the problem persists.

Does it crash while you are typing in your name? Or right after you press ok? What is the LAST thing you see before the error?

does it let you put the first letter in? or does it crash while it is drawing the popup window? Or does it draw the window, wait for you to start typing, then crash on the first letter?

These questions help me understand where the code is failing.
